Membership
There are two ways to benefit from the Institute's expertise:
- Individual membership for managers
- Corporate membership for organizations
Individual Membership
Membership is assessed according to your qualifications and experience as a manager. As your career progresses you can upgrade your membership to gain the recognition your achievement deserves.
- Affiliate - If you have an interest in management, but do not yet have a management qualification or management experience you can join at Affiliate level. The services provided by the Chartered Management Institute are designed to support people who wish to work towards becoming a manager as well as those who already have management experience.
- Student Member - If you are studying for a management qualification either accredited by the Institute or another organisation, you can join as a Student Member. We offer specific services to students to help you in your studies.
- Associate (ACMI) - To qualify as an Associate you must either have 3 years management experience OR hold an appropriate qualification in management (e.g. Certificate, Diploma or S/NVQ in Management).
- Member (MCMI) - To qualify as a Member you must have 3 years management experience AND hold a management qualification at degree level or above (e.g. includes NVQ4 or Diploma in Management).
- Fellow (FCMI) - To qualify as a Fellow you should have 10 years management experience, of which 3 years must be at strategic level. You must also hold a management qualification at degree level or above (e.g. includes NVQ4 or Diploma in Management).
Companions form the highest level and most exclusive membership of the Institute. Involvement is by invitation only to leaders who have demonstrated outstanding management and leadership achievement in substantial organisations.
Corporate Members
Corporate membership of the Institute is an excellent way for organisations to develop their management capability, enhance the learning tools available to their organisations, improve management effectiveness and decision-making, and keep up-to-date with the latest management thinking.
