Dear Members and Friends of CMI-HK,

Welcome to the Chartered Management Institute, Hong Kong Branch (CMI-HK) – a platform for Inspiring Leaders and Professional Managers to expand horizon and make an impact.

The Chartered Management Institute is a leading professional community. The Hong Kong Branch is keen to facilitate professional development and networking for local members; many of whom are in key managerial positions in various business sectors. Although there are around 600 members registered in Hong Kong, the Institute’s international network features over 90,000 members. Thus it offers members opportunities to network not only in Hong Kong, but also with e-communities on a global basis.

In today’s ever-changing world, the ability to pursue ambitious initiatives by gaining support of others is essential to business success. As we know, great leaders accomplish results by setting direction, inspiring action, aligning resources and developing capabilities of teams. How these skills are applied varies according to the environment and business context. In particular, in recent years, the Asian region faces turbulent times - changing markets and regulatory structures with widely varying government systems. As such, it presents managers with unparalleled challenges.

With rapid changes and growing borderless business environment, we need to equip ourselves with positive attitude, new knowledge, skills and competencies to compete in this new world order. To meet the challenges ahead, the Hong Kong Branch is passionate about management and leadership excellence, and will strive to enhance its prominence as a major professional platform.

It is, indeed, an honour to have served the Branch in capacity as Chairperson during 2000-2003, and, once again, for the term 2012-2013. I sincerely wish that members will support our activities, and to visit our website regularly as it will foster better communication. Last but not least, I thank the Executive Council for their enthusiastic and continuing support in bringing the CMI-HK to new heights.
